JIMMIE JACKSON

ABOUT ME

I am Jimmie Alexander Jackson JR. and I have two other siblings. I was born on September 30, 1994, and grew up in a suburban Chicago a city called Riverdale. Music was a big part of my life. In the sixth grade I started playing the trombone, the bartione in 7th grade and the sousaphone in high school. I was a member of the nation's first collegiate marching band, the University of Illinois Marching Illini, for four years.

During my junior year in high school I took a couple of media production courses. I decided then that I wanted to take a career path in journalism. It wasn't just my interest in the coverage of news and politics that drove me into this direction, but also all of the behind the scenes tech work. About two years into college, I started working as an A/V Tech at my university's student union.

I enjoyed my time at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and got to do some pretty cool things.

I became the AV tech student manager as a senior in college. I did a lot of AV work, which allowed me to really explore my interest in lighting and audio. In the near future plan to get my CTS certification, which is a certified technology specialist

I got my master's degree at Arizona State University's Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I focused on money reporting and while living in Arizona, I continued working in the AV industry.
